The Vought OS2U Kingfisher was in observation aircraft developed for the US Navy which entered service in 1940. The Kingfisher was also used by Australia, Chile, and Great Britain as well as a few examples in other countries.
The Kingfisher could be fitted with wheels as well as floats and was carried by many ships, being catapult-launched, and then recovered from the sea by crane.
The Kingfisher had 2 crew and was armed with 2 x 7.62 mm machine guns and 2 x racks for bombs or depth-charges.
