Sumerian Dagger
This Sumerian ceremonial dagger was excavated from the burial site of Queen Pu-Abi who died circa 2500 BC.

The dagger is 25cm long and has a gold blade, lapis lazuli handle, and gold decoration.

The excavation of the Sumerian city of Ur took place from 1922 to 1934 where 1850 graves and 16 tombs were uncovered.

Pu-Abi (who is assumed to have been Queen) was was laid on a wooden bier along with oxen, food, vehicles, and other treasures, as well as 25 attendants who most likely took poison voluntarily.
